LEEMING Village Hall has been awarded a £10,000 National Lottery grant towards a “Warm and Well” project to refurbish the much-used community building.
A new heating system and LED lighting has been installed and later in the year Induction Loop and microphones will be added and the interior redecorated.
A recent charity auction held by Exelby, Leeming and Newton Parish Council raised sufficient funds to allow loft insulation to also be installed.
Village Hall funds will be used to box in the gas pipework, replace kitchen lino and re-varnish the floor.
The hall is well-used by a variety of community groups in and around the village including crafts, art and Bedale Brass Band.
Other regular users are dog training classes, a children’s dance class, as well various private functions.
