FRIENDS of a car enthusiast killed in a collision on the A1(M) are staging a fundraising show in his memory.

The Joe Allan Memorial Show, which will feature a rolling road for cars to honour the 25-year-old's passion for cars alongside live music, trade stalls, competitions, children's stalls and entertainers and display vehicles, will be held at Thirsk Racecourse on Saturday, July 2, from 10am to 5pm.

The event, entry to which is free for children and £3 for adults, will raise funds for the Great North Air Ambulance and the Yorkshire Air Ambulance, at the request of the family of Mr Allan, from Bedale.

Co-organiser Kara Norris said: "Joe was a dear friend of ours. The event begun as a car show as Joe loved his car, however it will be a fun family day out."

Mr Allan died last August after his Honda S2000 car left the A1(M), just south of junction 60, near Sedgefield.

After his death, his family issued a statement saying Mr Allan had a large circle of friends.

They added: “Joe had a passion for gadgets and anything electronic and knew them all inside out, but his biggest passion away from the family and his partner was Joe’s love of cars. His Honda S2000 was his pride and joy."
