A HERITAGE railway is holding a special timetable for a Bank Holiday ale festival.

The Wensleydale Railway will be running special timetables for the annual Wensley Ale Festival celebrations, from Friday, May 27 to Monday, May 30, with a special train service on all four days including services to Northallerton West.

Redmire station car park will host the festival, which will feature more than 30 real ales, local food suppliers and fantastic scenery from the Wensleydale Railway.

On Bank Holiday Monday, Finghall Village is holding the annual sponsored barrel push, and on Sunday and Monday Aysgarth Station is open to the public.

“The annual Wensley Ale Festival weekend is a great celebration that deserves a good turnout of both trains and enthusiasts,” said general manager Nigel Park.

“We are especially pleased to have Steam on Sunday as it is a ‘must see’ weekend at Wensleydale Railway.”

Wensleydale Railway is one of the longest heritage railway routes in the country and operates a daily service in the main season between Leeming Bar and Redmire, with Wednesday and Saturdays for the Northallerton to Leeming Bar section.

Plans are in hand to extend the service in line with future demand.
