A village hall is being restored following a donation of £17,000 from quarry firm Tarmac and their Landfill Communities Fund.

The hall at Kirklington and Sutton Howgrave, near Bedale, is being given a major upgrade with a full kitchen refit and an asbestos wall removed which will open up further development possibilities.

Project ManagerTracey Turney, said: “After many years hard work by the committee past and present, I am very excited to see the start of the kitchen transformation. I cannot wait to reveal the final works to the community and see the difference it will make to the provision we can offer our residents”.

Andy Coe, Tarmac’s Unit Manager, said: “We are delighted to be able to support this project close to Nosterfield Quarry, which clearly will benefit the local community. I look forward to seeing the completed works”.

He said the work would help secure the future of the village hall for a number of years to come to the benefit of residents.
