THE Bedale Branch of Yorkshire Cancer Research held their final fundraising occasion - a black tie dinner at Tennants of Leyburn.
The branch, which was formed in July 1965, has in the last half-century raised approximately £250,000.
However, the members have decided that they can no longer continue as a separate entity and are to be taken under the wing of the Vale of York branch of the charity.
More than 140 guests were welcomed to a champagne reception and then sat down to a three-course meal and entertainment by the Singing Waiters.
Branch chairman Becky Duff said: “It was a lovely evening and many of us will continue work through the Vale of York branch of Yorkshire Cancer Research.”
