A SAUSAGE and beer festival is due to take place in North Yorkshire later this month.

Following the launch of the festival at the Camp Hill Estate near Bedale last year, the event is due to return again this year with more butchers taking part and more beers to enjoy.

Starting at noon, visitors will be able to sample a variety of the finest sausages from up to 20 local butchers and then vote for their favourite.

A selection of locally produced beers will also be available to buy and enjoy throughout the day including ales by Wall’s Brewing Company in Northallerton and Wensleydale Brewery.

There will also be activities including sausage-making and a “speediest link” challenge and visitors will be able to explore the estate and try out the adventure playground, children’s assault course and watch a trials bike demonstration.

There will also be Rosie’s Vintage Cream Teas, a bouncy castle, face painting, live music and other activities.

Last year’s winners, Cockburn’s of Bedale, who won the Heck Cup for the Best Sausage competition said: “It was fantastic getting so much positive feedback from the public last year so we are looking forward to defending our title – we don’t want to be handing over the cup to anyone else!”

Tickets cost £5 for adults £5 and children under 12-years-old are free. To book visit: www.camphill.co.uk Tickets are also available on the day, or people can camp overnight for £15 per pitch.
