A 22-year-old driver has suffered serious injuries after hitting the central reservation of the A1(M).
North Yorkshire Police said the man was taken to James Cook University Hospital, Middlesbrough, for treatment following the incident near Bedale at 1.15am today (Monday, June 1), where he remains in a serious condition.
The driver's white Ford Fiesta hit the central reservation on the southbound carriageway, half-a-mile south of the RAF Leeming flyover.
Police slowed traffic as accident investigators examined the wreckage, which was cleared by 2.30am.
Investigating officers are appealing to anyone who saw the collision happen or saw the vehicle before the crash to call 101 or email chris.coleman@northyorkshire.pnn.police.uk
