PROPERTY developers Yorvik Homes has handed over a cheque for £1,000 to help ensure the future of a community mini bus.

The Bedale Community mini bus is run as a charitable trust and relies on donations to keep it moving.

Yorvik sales manager Janis Stone said when the company heard about the bus it was keen to make a donation.

She added: "We build small developments in rural communities, such as this site of 14 homes in Bedale, and we like to support a local charity within that community. The mini bus was the ideal investment.”

Chairman of the mini bus charity Richard Tilley said: "This really helps us to continue our service. The bus is available for people in the town and surrounding area who may have mobility problems or special non profit making groups who need transport.

“This cheque is a huge bonus. The costs we charge help to run the bus, but we have to cover extras such as insurance and maintenance.

"We are always on the lookout for drivers so we would be keen to hear from anyone who might be able to help and offer a few hours of their time.”

The mini bus can be contacted by calling 01677 425329.
