MILITARY exercises and events which have included night flying at RAF Leeming, near Bedale, since the beginning of March are due to come to a close at the end of this week. A base spokeswoman said they have been hosting various exercising aircraft and detachments throughout March, including a large-scale Tri Service exercise. These are designed to exercise Naval, Army and RAF vehicles, in close support of ground troops.

Carvan Park: A new £100,000 caravan park is being opened by the Yorkshire Agricultural Society, organisers of the Great Yorkshire Show. Harrogate Caravan Park, will open on Thursday March 27, with 66 pitches, wifi and heated washroom facilities.. The Society says it’s a unique venue with high quality facilities and will help attract business and holiday guests to the town. It’s already full for the opening weekend and for the Tour de France Grand Depart and the great Yorkshire show.

Bedale Homes: Plans for 14 new two storey houses on the site of a disused agricultural centre in Bedale have been submitted to Hambleton District Council. The site is at Benkhill Drive, next to Bedale High School. The planning application has been submitted by Yorvik Homes Ltd of York, with accompanying access plans along a short road. The existing building was closed several years ago.
