ORGANISERS of Bedale Music festival are calling on budding songwriters to tune into this year's competition.
The contest is held as part of the Acoustic Music Festival which attracts leading musicians from across the country.
Last year it was won by David Swann from Pickering with his song, 'Woven Through Herringbone', second was 14-year-old Gina McCann, who this year is appearing as part of the main festival.
Competitors must supply a copy of their song lyrics which must be original work and unrecorded.
Entries can be sent to info@bamfest.co.uk or posted at the festival office during the festival, which runs from Friday May 30 until June 1.
Deadline for entries is 5pm on Saturday May 31. The competition will take place on Sunday June 2, between 10.30am and 12.30am.
Organiser John Knighton said: “Last year’s competition was really wonderful with a wide variety of material and a high standard.
"We are delighted that award-winning singer/songwriter Henry Priestman has once again agreed to be one our judges, even though he knows what a tough job it will be!
“I would encourage anyone, young or old, if they have a song in them to share it.”
