A BEST-SELLING author and her pet pony have released a clothing range to support working horses and donkeys.

Earlier this year, Hannah Russell and the star of her books and magazines Shetland Pony Little Alf became Brooke ‘Every Horse Remembered’ ambassadors. The campaign marks 100 years since the end of World War One. It aims to raise awareness of the millions of horses, donkeys and mules that gave their lives in the conflict and the equines that still work today.

As an ambassador Hannah came up with the idea of creating a design which could be put on to clothing and merchandise to remember all the hard-working creatures who lost their lives.

Ms Russell said: “I already have a selection of Little Alf clothing which sells really well, I thought it would be a nice idea to create a special limited edition design which would help Brooke.

“It is a really special design and I think it will be great to create awareness for the campaign and for the future of working horses and donkeys.”

The design shows Little Alf holding a purple poppy which is a symbol created in 2006 to remember the animals who lost their lives in war. It can be found on men’s, women’s and children’s clothing as well as a small selection of merchandise; 20% of every sale goes back to Brooke Action for working horses and donkeys.

Caroline Robertson, Senior Regional Fundraising Officer, Brooke said:“Brooke is delighted to have been chosen as the benefitting charity of this extra special range of clothing and to receive 20% of all purchases.

“We are extremely grateful to Hannah and Little Alf for their very kind and generous donation.”
