Child trapped

FIREFIGHTERS came to the rescue of a woman who was locked out of her house on Ailcey Road, Ripon, while a child was inside at 8.33am on Wednesday. Crews used manpower to gain access via a first floor window to reunite the pair.

Theatre funds

Open garden

ROSE Cottage in Boltby is holding an open garden on June 22 to raise money for the local Riding for the Disabled group. The garden, owned by Tracy Shaw, will be open from 6.30pm and entrance is £5 including a drink.

Choral concert

RIPON Choral Society are performing a concert with Orchestra D’Amici and four soloists at Ripon Cathedral on June 16. It starts at 7.30pm and tickets are £22 or £20 booked in advance on 07736-759930 or at the Cathedral Bookshop.

Roses galore

THE Ryedale Rose Festival will be held at the RV Roger plant centre and nursery at Pickering on July 7 and 8.The festival is a major event on the rose exhibitors’ calendar and visitors will be able to wander among 50,000 roses in full flower.

Whist drive

A WHIST drive is being held at the Booth Memorial Hall in Catterick village on June 18 at 7.30pm. Admission is £2.50.
