Sheep rescue
A SHEEP had to be rescued by firefighters when it became trapped in a silt pond at Wykeham at around 8.30am on Monday. he crews used inflatable pathways, tactical water rescue equipment and an animal rescue halter to free the animal.
Open gardens
KIRKBYMOORSIDE In Bloom’s open gardens event is on Sunday, from 11am to 5pm. Tickets are £5 and include a cream tea which will be available opposite Chisholm’s Monument. There will also be a plant stall.
Bach Choir
THE Yorkshire Bach Choir are in concert at St Mary’s Church, Lastingham on June 16 at 7pm. It has been arranged by the Friends of Lastingham as a fundraiser in aid of conservation work. Schools' day
HUNDREDS of schoolchildren have taken part in the Duncombe Park Schools’ Days event. About 370 primary school children took part in the two-day event at Duncombe Park, organised by Anna Hare of Countryside Learning. Pupils took part in a host of of activities run by local organisations.
Car boot
THE Kirkbymoorside support group for Marie Curie is holding a country house car boot sale at Welburn Manor on June 24. Vendors can arrive from 7.30am. The event starts at 8.30am and runs until noon. Refreshments will be available. For more phone 01751-431160.
