AS THE world finally got to see the much-anticipated dress worn by Meghan Markle, the new Duchess of Sussex, brides around the region no doubt were dying to see how it would compare to their own.

Meghan chose a simple, sleeved white gown by Clare Waight Keller for Givenchy with delicate five metre veil and Queen Mary's diamond bandeau tiara, loaned to her by the Queen.

Closer to home, Anna King said she and her bridesmaids watched the wedding while getting ready at her mum’s house in Great Ayton, ahead of her wedding to Robert Hauserman.

She said: “My dress if floor length and has an embroidered leaf design decorated with beads. It is an A-line shape and has straps. I’m wearing my hair up with gypsophilia flowers and a plait as part of the style to get quite a natural, boho look.

“Our 18-month-old daughter Isabella is a flower girl and she had some flowers for her hair but she didn’t like to wearing it!”

Her adult bridesmaids wore floor-length coral gowns and had bright bouquets with coral tones and sunflowers, and they also had gypsophilia in their hair.

The couple went to school together but it wasn't until after university that they got together.

They were married at Christ Church in Great Ayton with a reception at nearby Whinstone View.

The new Mrs Hauserman said her husband had arranged her transport to the church as a surprise – and was delighted with her horse drawn carriage, covered with flowers.

She said: “I had mentioned I’d love a horse drawn carriage but I had not idea if I would get one.”

The reception at Great Ayton’s Whinstone View included tepees on the lawn, with a saxophone player and later a DJ playing a Casa del Mar set, and lots of flowers to enhance the festival vibe.

For the evening party, the fun really started with a 90s rave complete with glow sticks.
