THERE are delays on the railway line between York and Darlington after a person was hit by a train at Northallerton.
British Transport Police said they were called at 12.24pm to the line near Northallerton Station.
A spokesman said: "A person has sadly died and we are now working to identify them and inform their family.
"It is not being treated as suspicious."
Replacement bus services have been organised to run between York and Darlington in both directions.
Virgin Trains East Coast says services may be delayed by up to 60 minutes, cancelled or revised. Disruption is expected until 4pm.
