ROYAL wedding fever gripped Northallerton and led to an intoxicating amount being raised for a cancer centre.

Department store Barkers held a charity fashion show in aid of the Sir Robert Ogden Macmillan Centre and the 160-strong audience did a double-take as models wearing Prince Harry and Meghan Markel masks took to the catwalk.

The models wore fashions from Barkers new spring and summer collection and donned masks during the finale in a nod to the royal wedding on May 19.

The event raised more than £7,000 for the centre at the Friarage Hospital.

Barkers womenswear buyer Jane Hunter said: “This is the biggest fashion show we have ever organised and it was a huge success.

“Not only did everyone love the fashions, we raised a magnificent sum for an important charity.

“Many people have been touched by cancer so it is a worthy cause close to everyone’s heart.

“With the forthcoming royal wedding being so topical, we thought we would have some fun with the masks.”
