QUIRKY ‘bicycle taxidermy’ artwork is going on display at The Station in Richmond from Saturday.
Artist Richard Parvin makes faux hunting trophies created from bicycle components and found objects.
A self-confessed “skip-rat”, Mr Parvin grew up in rural County Durham and was fascinated by wildlife from a young age.
As a born-again cyclist, he came to realize that the ergonomic shapes of certain bicycle components lent themselves to sculpture and his unique artworks were born.
He said: “In this throw-away age we can always do our bit in some small way to reduce our waste.”
The exhibition, ‘Steerdeer Bicycle Taxidermy’, runs until April 4 and Mr Parvin will be at the opening this Saturday.
