MEMBERS of the Royal British Legion have visited a small primary school which raised hundreds of pounds for its recent Poppy Appeal.
St Mary’s RC Primary School, in Richmond, raised £308 for the Royal British Legion’s Poppy Appeal this year, more than any other organisation in their town.
To show their appreciation, members of the town’s Royal British Legion (RBL) group, visited the school to present a certificate to staff and children.
The amount raised was the highest sum raised by a school, or organisation within Richmond.
Branch members Bob White and Richards Sands handed over the certificate to the head boy and girl, Gabriel Hubbuck and Poppy Rhodes in front of the school assembly.
Bob White, presenting the certificate said: “The school must be congratulated in its support of the Poppy Appeal and the work done by staff and children for the remembrance of those who fell during our wars and also those who have, and those who still serve our country in the Armed Forces.
“As they are the smallest school in Richmond, their donation was a terrific achievement, well worthy of our sincere thanks.”
The total raised by the Richmond Branch during the Poppy Appeal was £16,480. The branch wishes to thank all who donated for their continued support.
