MOTOR neurone disease (MND) is not stopping a determined Richmond woman from cycling 154-miles coast to coast with her sister.

Cath Muir was diagnosed with the disease just over three years ago but has not let it hold her back.

She set up a cookery business from her home where most of the work can be done sitting down, she volunteers on a regular basis and has raised more than £24,000 for causes related to MND, wanting to give back the great help she received from various organisations.

Now she is gearing up for her next challenge that will see her cycle from Workington in Cumbria to Whitby on a tandem bicycle with her sister Ruth Thompson.

Ms Muir said: “I am hoping to raise a lot of money for MND Association with a percentage of it going to the Cleveland and Hambleton and Richmondshire Groups.

"Fortunately I have a very fit sister who is going to be amazing support on this latest challenge.

"If she needs to get off and push up a hill she has me and the bike to push.

"Once I am lifted on the bike I can't get off myself all I can do is sit and pedal as hard as I possibly can to help.

"My husband is the back-up team in the car following slowly behind us."

"So please look out for us over the weekend and donate as much as you can for this amazing charity who tries to do what they can for people who have this horrendous disease.”
