A MAN and a woman in their 50s have been killed as they crossed a busy road next to a bus stop.

The couple were pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.

It happened on the A64 at Welburn near Malton, North Yorkshire, at around 10.55pm last (Friday, June 23) night.

The driver, a man aged in his 50s from the Wakefield area, and his wife in the passenger seat, were uninjured.

Police enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances of the incident.
