A WRITER from the region has won a publishing contract with Amazon imprint Kindle Press.
Stockton-born and Northallerton-based, Louise Cole won the deals after local people in the North-East and North Yorkshire supported her book during its online Kindle Scout campaign.
The Devil’s Poetry, a thriller with appeal for both teenagers and adults, is set in the fictional North Yorks town of Lifley, and much of the action is based in York or local settings such as Arkengarthdale.
Louise received an advance and a 50 per cent royalty agreement in exchange for her ebook and audiobook rights.
“The Kindle Press deal is a wonderful opportunity for a debut author and I’m so grateful to all the friends and neighbours who supported me," she said.
"Local people were tremendously generous both in their enthusiasm for supporting my campaign and their joy when ‘we’ won.
"It’s been wonderful to be able to share something so important to me with the rest of my community."
