MORE than 100 young dancers aged from three to 18 are preparing to showcase their skills in a forthcoming show.
Students with the Janet Seymour School of Theatre Dance will be performing at Tennant’s Garden Rooms in Leyburn on Sunday, July 2.
The show, entitled Terpsichore, will begin at 2pm and will feature young dancers taking part in sequences including classical ballet, jazz and tap.
Janet Seymour, who trained at the Royal Academy of Dance and has been teaching in Germany and the dales for more than 40 years, said; “Terpsichore means ‘delight in dance’, and this is a chance for the wider community to delight in and celebrate the extraordinary talent and achievements of our dancers.
“It’s also about offering a professional performance opportunity to the students, with a large stage, costume changes, lighting, two on-site rehearsals and a 400 capacity venue.”
Students from Swaledale and Wensleydale are taught at studio venues in Reeth, Leyburn and Hawes.
- Tickets are £8 for adults, £5 for under-16s, on sale at the community office in Hawes, or through the website swaledaledance.co.uk or on 07958 145752.
