A YEAR of top rated reviews on the travel website Trip Advisor has triggered a need for more volunteer staff at the Yorkshire Air Museum.
The success has meant that the museum, at Elvington, near York, now needs to expand its team of volunteers in response to growing demand for 2017.
They are the first people visitors see when they arrive and are key to helping people get the maximum enjoyment from a visit by explaining everything on offer .
However, a deep knowledge of aviation is not needed and the current volunteers come from a wide variety of backgrounds.
Museum director Ian Reed said, “The fact that these roles are actually very important to us is something that people don’t initially realize.
“They are, in fact, the public face of the museum and the interface between all of the ‘behind the scenes’ staff who make this extraordinary place the success it is today.”
