LIFE-saving ducks will be floating gently down a stream this weekend – and the public are being given the chance to join in.
Whitby RNLI crew want anyone feeling lucky to sponsor a rubber duck – on a little rubber lifeboat - this Sunday, October 23, in their annual race.
The ducks cost just £1 a ticket, with a top prize of £100 up for grabs and they will be released in Sandsend valley beck at 2pm.
Coxswain Mike Russell said: “The event is a good laugh and makes for a fun family day out. It is quite a sight when all the ducks tumble down the beck - the kids go quackers.
Every pound raised will go towards vital training for the volunteer crew who are on call round-the-clock to save lives at sea along the coast.
Tickets can be purchased on the day or at the lifeboat station in the run up to the event. There are also cash prizes to be won for three runners-up.
