A FORMER deputy headmaster of Ripon Cathedral Choir School has denied nine sexual charges at an appearance before York Crown Court.
Ian David Charles Atkinson, formerly of Staveley, Ripon, and now living in Somerset, is alleged to have sexually abused one boy in the 1990s and a second boy nine years later. Both boys were aged between 11 and 13 and went to schools connected to Atkinson.
Atkinson denied eight charges of indecent assault against the two boys and a charge of indecency with a child against the second boy. He also denies downloading indecent images of children on or before August 21, 2015.
His case was adjourned for trial at a date and venue to be decided and he was released on bail.
The choir school, a private school, existed between 1960 and 2012.
