THE very best in Yorkshire tourism will be honoured at a glittering awards ceremony in a brand new £11m venue.

The sprawling new hall at the Yorkshire Event Centre in Harrogate will host the annual White Rose Awards on November 21.

Hosted by Welcome to Yorkshire, the awards will see more than 100 businesses go head-to-head across 17 categories – more than ever before - from Large Hotel to Outstanding Customer Service to Taste of Yorkshire.

Last year’s event made history when more than 1,000 people watched as Take That superstar, Gary Barlow, and co-writer of The Girls musical, Tim Firth, were made honorary Yorkshiremen at the first direct arena Leeds.

The chair of the judges, Colin Mellors, said: “Yorkshire’s tourism is a remarkable sector with fantastic hospitality, facilities and produce on offer.

“Those shortlisted should feel very proud to have been selected against such strong competition. Choosing the eventual winners this year will be a really tough task.”

Welcome to Yorkshire chief executive Sir Gary Verity, added: “It is an honour to be hosting the first ever awards dinner at the new events hall at the Yorkshire Event Centre. The standard of entries just gets better every year.”

Tickets have now gone on sale at £67.50 plus VAT and are available at whiteroseawards.com
