YOUNG people are being encouraged to get involved with policing in their area to make a positive difference to their community.
North Yorkshire Youth Commission on Police and Crime is looking for young people aged 14 to 25 to be part of the Youth Commission, which allows young people to get involved and have their say about policing and crime where they live. It enables young people to support, challenge and inform the work of the Police and Crime Commissioner for North Yorkshire, Julia Mulligan, and North Yorkshire Police.
The Youth Commission, piloted in July 2015, was funded through the Police and Crime Commissioner’s Community Fund. In June 2016, funding was extended for another two years to enable the Youth Commission, and is looking for new members.
“When I met the Youth Commission members at the Big Conversation I was inspired by their enthusiasm and the work they’ve completed,” said Mrs Mulligan.
