CROWDS basked in the sunshine while enjoying a wide range of horse events – as well as the traditional side of an agricultural show.

The 68th Borrowby Show, on Wednesday, featured show jumping for youngsters and serious competitors, and a dog show which appealed to both family pets and show dogs.

This year’s presidents, Gordon and Beryl Weir, said it was an honour to be asked to preside over the event.

Mr Weir said: “The show has changed a lot and grown over the years and I think this year has been great. A highlights for me is always the Hurworth Hunt, and it is always good to see the horse and pony events.”

A herd of Guernsey cows that help to make the famous Brymor Ice Cream featured at the show, winning champion dairy.

Rosie Grant, who rears the calves for Brymor, said: “To win here is amazing.”

Steven Kirby from Ainderby Steeple, who won rosettes for all 30 of his sheep, said: “It couldn’t have gone better.”
