THE North York Moors National Park Authority is on the hunt for projects that will increase awareness of the area or will benefit local communities.

Two pots of cash are on offer - Local Distinctiveness and Tourism Grant and the Community Grant.

The latter is available to fund innovative projects that look to increase awareness of the North York Moors National Park or the wider area.

The Community Grant is offering funding of up to £3,500 for small scale projects that provide environmental benefits, conserve cultural heritage and local history, or improve community facilities.

The park’s head of tourism, Catriona McLees said: “The grants are a great way to help local communities, organisations and businesses. It gives them a helping hand to make a difference.”

Last year grants assisted with installing barn owl boxes, providing play equipment, refurbishing toilets, resurfacing car parks and printing a publication on local history.

Applications for the community grant need to be received by June 30 while the tourism and local distinctiveness is considered throughout the year. However, as the grant fund is limited, applicants are advised to submit their applications as early as possible.
