A CONCERT will raise money for the Friends of Chernobyl - a charity which brings children affected by the Chernobyl disaster to the UK for a holiday.

Entertainment at Crakehall village hall on February 26 will be provided by singer Alison Williams, who uses the stage name Steffi Gold, as well as Katherine Auld, aka Roxie Starr, Scott Adams and Steve's Disco.

The Friends of Chernobyl brings children to the UK on a yearly basis for a month to extend and enhance their lives following the Chernobyl nuclear disaster in 1986.

Organiser Mrs Williams, a childminder in Crakehall, said tickets went on sale in mid January and were sold out within a week.

She added: "I am very grateful to all involved for giving up their time and talents for the charity."
