A CHARITY is inviting residents and community groups hit by the recent flooding to apply for a share of £115,000.

The North Yorkshire Recovery Fund was set up last year by Two Ridings Community Foundation to help people or bodies with limited means whose properties had been deluged to get back to normal.

The charity said it would give grants for essential household items and repairs and may consider other costs incurred through flooding and any shortfall in insurance payments.

A spokesman said: "Not everyone can easily return to their flood-damaged properties and this fund is here to assist them get back to normality and rebuild their lives.

"Along with money for repairs and cleaning costs the fund can also award grants for items such as beds, clothing, child-care equipment and furniture.

"If you have been affected by the floods, or know someone who has, make sure to apply for a share of the money, spread the word and help spread the funds to rebuild our ever-resilient region."
