A FORMER fitness instructor has been jailed for internet revenge porn – after which he was blasted with a shotgun by his victim's enraged husband.

Scott Watmuff, 41, was shot and wounded by businessman Rob Ellerby after posting an intimate picture of his wife Rubbina Ellerby on Facebook, a court was told.

Scarborough Magistrates heard Ellerby snapped after Watmuff called at his home the day after posting an intimate photograph of Mrs Ellerby on Facebook.

The Northern Echo: SCOTT WATMUFF: Jailed for 16 weeks.

Prosecutor Kathryn Reeve said Mrs Ellerby, aged in her 30s, had left her husband of five years for Watmuff but they broke up shortly afterwards and she returned to the marital home.

When Watmuff showed up claiming Mrs Ellerby owed him £500 for bills no one answered the door, so he picked up a rock and hurled it at her Honda Civic, causing £2,000 damage, Ms Reeve added.

Ellerby, who runs a company making designer rabbit hutches, then grabbed a shotgun and opened fire from the upstairs window of the remote house at Sawdon, near Scarborough. Watmuff suffered a number of gunshot wounds to the back of his legs but escaped serious injury.

Ian Brickman, mitigating, said: “The injuries were not life-threatening but easily could have been.

“He has been diagnosed with post traumatic stress disorder. In many respects, he is a victim of the situation.”

Ms Reeve said the incident happened in July, the day after Watmuff uploaded an intimate picture of Mrs Ellerby to his Facebook page.

The court heard the image did not show Mrs Ellerby’s face but it was soon identified as her because of the comments.

She received texts and phone calls about the picture and when she begged Watmuff to take the picture down, he replied: “See you soon.”

Mr Brickman said Watmuff had removed the picture as soon as he realised it had been identified.

“It was a close up which did not reveal the lady’s face but when he had it on Facebook there were comments made and he realised it was a mistake,” he said.

Watmuff, of Redcliffe Road, Scarborough, admitted criminal damage and disclosing a private sexual photograph with intent to cause distress.

He was jailed for 16 weeks, ordered to pay £180 criminal court charge and £250 compensation and given a three year restraining order.

*Ellerby, 44, who was initially arrested on suspicion of attempted murder, was convicted at York Crown Court of possessing a shotgun with intent to cause fear of violence and assault causing actual bodily harm. He will be sentenced at Teesside Crown Court on December 14.
