FIRE and rescue crews from Northallerton were called to a fire involving standing crops near Welbury Grange, East Harlsey. Two engines attended after two emergency calls were made to the control room at around 4.20pm on Sunday. A spokesman said an area of around 200 metres by 50 metres was alight. Crews used hose reels and two beaters to bring the blaze under control and stop it spreading to other fields and buildings.
