A WOMAN celebrating her 100th birthday has enjoyed a party at her Richmond care home with family.
Jane Ann Potts, known as Jenny, spent the day at her home, Nightingale Hall Care Home, Richmond, with daughter Ann Potts.
Mrs Potts was born in Eighton Banks near Gateshead, and was the fourth of five children in a mining family.
She became a primary school teacher in the Washington area of County Durham, and in 1944 she married farmer William Potts, and they had a daughter, Ann.
In 1985 Mrs Potts moved to Richmond to be closer to her daughter after her husband died.
Miss Potts, 70, said: “She always loved dancing and used to go with my father regularly, and she also loves music and singing.”
