A MOTORCYCLIST has died in hospital following a crash.

The 23-year-old was riding a black Honda CB600 Hornet through Scarborough in North Yorkshire on Friday evening when he was involved in a collision with a white Toyota Yaris.

The accident happened outside the Vantage Toyota garage on Dunslow Road in the Eastfield area of the town just after 7.20pm.

He was taken to Scarborough General Hospital for treatment, but North Yorkshire Police confirmed tonight that he had sadly died of his injuries.

Officers say they are not yet in a position to release the name of the victim.

Police have repeated their request for witnesses to the crash. Anyone who saw the distinctive motorcycle, which has a silver frame and blue piping, before the collision as it travelled on the A64 from Malton towards Scarborough or as it entered Dunslow Road heading in the direction of Cayton.

Any witnesses are asked to call North Yorkshire Police on 101, select option two, and ask for Martin Mulcaster or the Major Collision Investigation Team.
