CASH is being offered to help preserve the look of the North York Moors.

Grants for restoring, improving and maintaining traditional boundaries are again being made available by the National Park Authority.

Farmers and landowners in the park have already benefited from grants in excess of £150,000 to plant and restore hedges and dry stone walls.

Such traditional boundaries form a big part of the landscape character, and not only provide boundary markers and shelter for stock but help reduce soil erosion and provide crucial wildlife habitat.

Grants for up to £2,000 to restore hedgerows and drystone walls are available. To be eligible the field boundaries must be visible from a public right of way or road.
