VISITOR figures are on the rise at one of North Yorkshire’s high-profile attractions.

The number of people headed to Lightwater Valley near Ripon increased by more than 11 per cent over the Easter period.

The jump came following the theme park’s £350,000 investment in a new Jurassic Adventure Golf course and Vintage Car Rally ride which are due to open in May.

And next month also sees the first Adrenaline Weekend take place at the park complete with rally challenge, zip wire and bungee jumping experiences.

General manager Mark Bainbridge said: “It’s been a really positive start to the season with thousands already visiting since the gates opened at the end of March.

“The Ultimate - Europe’s longest rollercoaster - and the Angry Birds activity park are as popular as ever, with our falconry packages and new Pop Circus show also attracting visitors.”

The Adrenaline Weekend takes place on May 24 and 25 and more information can be found by visiting lightwatervalley.co.uk or by the Facebook page at Facebook.com/LWVTP. The park can also be followed on Twitter @LightwaterV
