A TEDDY BEAR fanatic and former care home worker has opened up her own shop dedicated to her passion.

Gayle Snaith, from Normanby, has opened up a new shop devoted to teddy bears in Stokesley, where bears ranging from three foot high to the very smallest sizes.

She also intends to stocked limited edition bears, with the aim of attracting international collectors online.

She said: “Setting up my shop was done purely out of a love for bears. I was working in a social care home before, but about three years ago I just thought, ‘I love bears so much, why don’t I open my own shop?’ If I hadn’t opened my business, I would have just carried on buying bears for myself, which I still do. I think teddy bears are timeless and appeal to adults and children.

“We’re stocking limited edition bears; some collectors items can be limited to 30 and become quite sought-after, so we’re expecting some interest from collectors as well.”

The shop, Bear Necessities, on College Square in Stokesley, also sells handmade castles and dolls houses.
