A CHARITY that supports disabled people taking part in leisure activities has the chance for any £5 donations to be doubled.

Localgiving’s GiveMe5 campaign will allow any £5 donations to Breathing Space, which operates in Northallerton, Thirsk, Stokesley, Bedale, Richmond and Easingwold, to be match funded.

Breathing Space provides social outings and activities for adults with learning disabilities, and is taking part in the Localgiving campaign on both January 28 and February 25, when local supporters can have their donations doubled.

The charity will be using the campaign to kick-start its fundraising for the year, with the aim of continuing the work it has been doing for the last 20 years.

#GiveMe5 aims to inspire support for community-focused charities by doubling 1,000 £5 donations made throughout each day.

Anne Alder, chairman of Breathing Space management committee said: “We’re incredibly excited to be part of #GiveMe5 and hope that the local community will show their generosity and support.

“Just one matched £5 donation would give an additional £10 of funding, which would allow us to put it towards a typical activity cost of £100.

“We hope Localgiving’s #GiveMe5 campaign will help us to maximise the opportunity and raise as much as possible.”
