POLICE confiscated “vast” amounts of booze when they raided a teenage party as it got out of hand.

Officers were called to the shindig in the Ryedale area of North Yorkshire following complaints of anti-social behaviour.

And on reaching the venue, on Church Lane at Slingsby, they found a large number of children in possession of a large amount of alcohol.

Now officers are pleading with parents to ensure their children are aware of the dangers of drinking too much alcohol.

All the youngsters at the party were under 18 and some were as young as 14. One of the teenagers - a 15-year-old boy - had drunk so much he had to be taken to hospital by ambulance as he was unable to stand and was vomiting profusely.

Officers seized the drink which included spirits, beer, lager, wine and alcopops, and also discovered a similar number of empties.

Sergeant Neil Campbell said: “It goes without saying that consuming this amount of alcohol at such a young age could have had serious implications on the young people’s health, not to mention their personal safety, in particular, the immediate danger of being in close proximity to the roads while drunk.

“The safety of young people is a priority for the police and the drink was seized to protect the children from further harm.

“We ask that parents also play their part in keeping their children safe.

“Please know where they are going and check to ensure that any parties they are attending are properly supervised.”

In total officers seized 53 bottles of lager, 1.5 litres of Bacardi, one litre of rum. two bottles of vodka, 10 bottles of cider, 13 cans of beer and lager and various alcopops and breezers.
