DETECTIVES are investigating reports of a sexual attack in woods close to a residential area.
North Yorkshire Police said the alleged assault happened shortly before 10pm on Wednesday (October 22), close to the bridge on New Earswick Link Road, in York, and the River Foss.
After being alerted at 4.47am yesterday (Thursday, October 23) to the incident, the area was cordoned off as officers examined the area.
A police spokesman said: "The investigation is in the very early stages and officers are working to establish the full circumstances of the incident.
"The victim is receiving support from specially trained officers while the investigation continues."
