THREE people have suffered smoke inhalation after two e-cigarettes caught fire while charging.
Fire crews arrived at the fire at around 10am on Tuesday, October 14, in the Foxwood area of York.
Janet Weaver, 59, said she and her sister, Margaret Holdsworth, 61, were charging their e-cigarettes while her partner Andy Smith, 50, was asleep after a nightshift at Nestle.
Ms Weaver said while getting ready to go out she smelled smoke and rushed to the kitchen to discover the two e-cigarette chargers had melted into the sockets.
North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue said all three occupants of the house were treated for smoke inhalation and were taken to hospital as a precaution.
Fire crews used one hose reel jet, breathing apparatus, and a fan to ventilate the property.
