POLICE are appealing for the public’s help in locating a wanted man.

Michael William Powell, 30, is wanted for recall to prison as he has displayed poor behaviour while on licence.

He was sentenced to five years’ imprisonment for robbery in December, 2011 and was released in June 2014.

Powell is described as white, 6ft tall, with a medium build and dark brown hair.

As well as living in York, Powell is known to have links in the Northampton area.

Detective Inspector Graeme Wright, of York CID, said: “Michael, if you see or hear this appeal, I want you to know that we have not forgotten about you and we are making every effort to return you to custody.

"By delaying the inevitable, you are only making matters worse for yourself. I strongly advise you to hand yourself in straightaway.

“I am also asking anyone who sees Powell to contact the police straightaway.”

Detective Inspector Wright added: “Officers have been making checks at addresses where Powell is believed to have links. These visits will continue until he has been arrested.

“If you are shielding him, you need to know that you are not helping Powell and you may even be committing offences yourself. If this is the case, you face the prospect of arrest and prosecution.”

Anyone who can help to locate Michael Powell should contact North Yorkshire Police on 101 and pass the details to the Force Control Room.
