A HOSPICE shop in an historic building has undergone a successful restoration.

The Teesside Hospice charity shop was officially reopened in Stokesley today (Tuesday, April 22).

After trading for more than 15 years in the premises, which date back to the 1600s, the shop was closed in December for restoration work to the building and refurbishment of the shop, situated on the corner of Bridge Street and the High Street.

Landlord and local businessman, Steve Dawson, was at the opening ceremony.

He said: “As the landlord and member of the community I felt responsible for this building; the entire site was stripped back and restored sympathetically, it took a team of dedicated people four months to complete but the results are spectacular.”

The shop sells a mixture of designer and vintage fashion. The first floor is now open to the public and home to Teesside Hospice Vintage Wardrobe, dedicated to vintage finds, including clothing, jewellery and homeware.

Tracy O’Donnell, retail area manager at Teesside Hospice said: “We know how important community is to the people of Stokesley and we are committed to helping one another.

“We have strong links with the Stokesley community who have supported the Hospice for over 30 years and it’s important to us that this continues in the future.”

Volunteers are still needed to help in the shop. Anyone interested should call 01642-811141 or pop in to the shop.

All profits go directly towards the running costs of the hospice.
