A SINGING group has returned from a trip to Spain where they performed in Barcelona Cathedral, Montserrat Basilica and Sagrada Familia.

Northallerton group Sing and Discover went on the trip organised by Linda Metcalfe last month.

Ms Metcalfe said: “To sing in Barcelona Cathedral was a real privilege and that alone would have made a great trip. “To sing in Montserrat Basilica and be the warm up act for the world famous boys’ choir – L’Escolonia singing to a Basilica full of people was the most memorable of occasions.

“The performance in Sagrada Familia, the world famous unfinished masterpiece by Gaudi, was an unrivalled experience to any place we have ever sung before, and most certainly worthy of a trip for that experience alone.”

The group is now preparing for forthcoming concert Sounds of the Summer, which will see the group join forces with other groups to sing in a 200 voice choir concert with a professional orchestra. Full details can be found on the website www.singanddiscover.com or on 01609-889005.

Places are available for male and female voices and there are no auditions to join the group, anyone over 16 is welcome.
