A MAN has been airlifted to hospital and a woman suffered neck injuries after a motorcyclist and car collided on the A684 in North Yorkshire.

The Northern Echo:

Peter Hudson, who lives near Patrick Brompton, the village close to where the accident happened, said he understood the motorcyclist had been driving towards the A684 from Newton-le-Willows.

A woman driving a blue Honda CR-V travelling from Patrick Brompton to Leyburn along the A684 was also involved.

Mr Hudson said: “It was around 3pm when the accident happened.

“I had been working on my farm and I saw the Yorkshire Air Ambulance fly over and it looked as though it was landing in Patrick Brompton.

“I went to see what had happened because I have a lot of friends there and wanted to see if it was someone I knew who was in difficulty.”

A spokesperson from North Yorkshire Police said: “The serious incident near Patrick Brompton was reported at 3.15pm and involves a Honda CR-V car and a motorcycle.

“The male rider of the motorbike has been air lifted to James Cook Hospital in Middlesbrough with serious injuries.

“The woman driver of the Honda has been taken to the Friarage Hospital in Northallerton with suspected neck injuries.”

The road was closed and is expected to remain closed for several hours while collision investigators examine the scene and recover the vehicles.
