Extreme sports festival for the young
YOUNGSTERS who enjoy extreme sports are being offered hours of fun at a skate festival over three different days this summer.
The events at the skate park in Norton, near Malton, are designed to celebrate the expertise of young people who are involved in extreme sports in Ryedale - and provide them with an opportunity to demonstrate how talented they are.
Each one will have competitions for skaters, rollerbladers and BMX riders with prizes at the end of each day.
DJs will be playing music throughout each day and MCs will be keeping the atmosphere pumping.
There will also be workshops in different art forms, including digital photography and digital media allowing participants to make and print their own T-shirts as well as banner-painting with professional artists.
Youth arts co-ordinator James Koppert said: "Ryedale has held the skate jams for the past few years and they have always been buzzing in excitement and atmosphere with the extreme sports fanatics really pushing themselves putting on an awesome display.
"We are trying to make sure that even the spectators can come along and be part of the event by offering workshops for 13 to 19-year-olds."
The skate festivals will take place on May 29, July 31 and August 21, between 10am and 3pm each day.
