LIVING LEGEND Dionne Warwick will return to the UK for a short national tour in September.

The singer and aunt of Whitney Houston, will play five nights across the country, including The Sage Gateshead on September 24, packed with her greatest hits.

The Don’t Make Me Over Tour will do just what it says and give fans the classic Warwick magic on all the favourites such as Walk On By, Any One Who Had A Heart, Do You Know The Way To San Jose, Don’t Make Me Over, Heartbreaker and many more.

As well as the legendary tracks there could be some of her upcoming new material by Burt Bacharach.

With a career spanning five decades, Warwick, an iconic R&B gospel artist, has popularised such timeless songs as Don’t Make Me Over, Alfie, and I’ll Never Love this Way Again.

The 77-year-old singer has five Grammy awards to her name and is the second most-charted female vocalist on Billboard’s Hot 100, from 1962 to 1998 – second only to Aretha Franklin.

Working with Bacharach and Hal David, Warwick ranks among one of the 40 biggest hit makers of the rock era and is one of most charted female singers of all time, with more than 56 hits to her name.

Hailing from New Jersey, her rise to fame saw her foundations in gospel, first getting noticed singing backing vocals for The Drifters.

In 1962, her first solo single Don’t Make Me Over launched her career and two years later Walk on By firmly established Dionne’s musical heritage, with five Grammy’s to follow and a lifetime of musical achievements.
