A GUNMAN held up a store before making off with a lottery machine - later found in a street nearby.
Police were called to J&H Local in Tempest Street, Silksworth, Sunderland after reports of a robbery at 9.10am this morning.
A Northumbria Police spokesman said: “A man went into the store and threatened staff before stealing a lottery machine.
“He was in possession of a handgun, although at the current time it is not known whether it was real or imitation.
“No-one has been injured but those in the store have been left shaken by the incident.
“The lottery machine has been located in Londonderry Street.”
Extra officers were sent to the area to carry out inquiries and offer reassurance.
The spokesman added: “A search is underway to locate the offender.
“He is described as approximately 5ft 6 inches tall and wearing a dark blue balaclava, black padded hooded jacket, blue latex gloves, tracksuit bottoms and grey/black shoes.”
