THE premier of a documentary telling the heroic story of a Victoria Cross winner from County Durham is taking place this week.
The film is about Thomas Kenny, a pitman born in South Wingate, who was awarded the Victoria Cross for his actions at La Houssoie, France on the November 4, 1915.
Beyond Praise - Thomas Kenny VC was commissioned by Wheatley Hill History Club and has been made by Durham-based Lonely Town Film and Media and will be shown for the first time to an invited audience at the Gala Theatre in Durham on Wednesday, November 8, and to the public at St Mary’s Heritage Centre in Gateshead on Tuesday, November 14.
